WHAT IS A DIAMOND TENNIS BRACELET?
A tennis bracelet is a flexible line of matched diamonds, each held in its own setting and joined into a single strand. It sits close to the wrist and moves with you, which is what makes it a piece you can wear every day and rarely take off.
WHERE DOES THE NAME 'TENNIS BRACELET' COME FROM?
The style earned its name in 1987. During a match at the US Open, tennis champion Chris Evert's diamond line bracelet came loose, and she paused play to find it. The name stuck, and the style has been called a tennis bracelet ever since.
CHOOSING YOUR CARAT WEIGHT
Tennis bracelets are chosen by total diamond weight. A lighter weight sits fine and understated, easy to wear with everything. A heavier weight carries more presence and more light. Because we make to order, you set the weight to your wrist and your budget.
SHOULD YOU CHOOSE NATURAL OR LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS?
Most of our diamond tennis bracelets can be crafted in either natural or lab-grown diamonds, both ethically sourced. Cultured (lab-grown) diamonds are grown rather than mined. They are chemically and visually identical to natural diamonds and more accessible, which lets you choose more size for the same spend. Natural diamonds carry their own rarity. Neither is better. It comes down to what matters to you. You can learn more on our Natural & Cultured Diamonds page.
CHOOSING YOUR METAL
Set in yellow gold, white gold and some styles in rose gold and platinum, choosing a metal colour is a personal preference. We recommending choosing the metal colour that suits the rest of your jewellery. For a standalone piece a white gold or platinum diamond tennis bracelet will offer the most bright white sparkle.
HOW TO WEAR AND STYLE YOUR DIAMOND BRACELET
A tennis bracelet wears exceptionally well on its own, a single clean line of light. It also stacks: pair it with a plain gold bangle or a chain bracelet, or wear two tennis lines together for more presence. It suits a watch on the same wrist, sitting just below it. Dressed up or worn with everyday clothes, it does not look out of place either way. A diamond tennis bracelet is the ultimate jewellery staple.
CARING FOR YOUR TENNIS BRACELET
Diamonds and solid gold are durable, but a little care keeps them bright. Take it off before swimming, gardening or heavy cleaning. Wipe it with a soft cloth, and clean it occasionally in warm water with a drop of mild soap and a soft brush to lift anything caught behind the stones. Check the clasp is secure and that the prongs are tight every now and then to ensure no stones could come loose. Stored well and worn with care, it will become an heirloom.
COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT DIAMOND TENNIS BRACELETS
HOW MANY CARATS SHOULD A TENNIS BRACELET BE?
It depends on the look you want. Lighter weights around 2-3 carats total sit subtle and suit everyday stacking with other bracelets. If you want a statement piece that stands on its own, or a bolder everyday look starting around the 6-7 carat mark will achieve the desired look.
ARE CULTURED DIAMONDS REAL DIAMONDS?
Yes. Cultured, or lab-grown, diamonds are chemically and visually identical to natural diamonds. The difference is how they formed, and the price.
CAN A TENNIS BRACELET BE RESIZED?
Yes, they can. To ensure the structural integrity of the bracelet it is best to have it crafted in the perfect length for you. As our designs are made to order, we can craft the piece to be the perfect fit.
WHAT LENGTH SHOULD MY BRACELET BE?
A tennis bracelet should fit comfortably around your wrist, allowing for natural movement without being so loose that it slides too far up your arm or catches on clothing or other objects.
To find your ideal bracelet length, first decide where you would like the bracelet to sit. For example, if you plan to wear it above your watch, measure your wrist at that point rather than at the wrist bone. We recommend measuring just past your wrist bone.
Using a flexible tape measure or a piece of string, measure the circumference of your wrist with the tape or string sitting comfortably against your skin. As a guide, add approximately 1.25–2.5 cm (½–1 inch) to your wrist measurement to determine your ideal bracelet length. For the best fit, the bracelet should allow enough room to fit one finger underneath.
